Tuff Spot Activities

Tuff Spots are really builders trays and I bought mine from B&Q a few years ago. They are just the best outdoor play purchase you can make because they open up so many possibilities.
Here are just a few ideas:
  • A place to learn to pot seedlings using compost, spades, plant pots and seeds or seedlings
  • A building site for all those construction vehicles and some sand and rubble to move
  • A water tray with all sorts of water toys
  • A sand tray with all sorts of sand toys
  • A fairy garden with lots of creative bits and bobs to make paths, fairy gardens, fairy houses, fairy stepping stones...
  • Slime and mark making apparatus
  • Rice or lentils with pouring and collecting apparatus
  • A place to create a dinosaur land including building materials and a collection of dinosaurs
  • A paddling pool
  • A tray to do finger painting, hand and foot printing
  • A duplo tray
  • A place for your train track
  • A place to create a princess castle
  • A tray full of ribbons, fabrics and pompoms
  • Soapy water with soap, straws and sponges
  • bubble water and bubble wands
  • Natural objects including leaves, stones, shells, plants etc. with magnifying glasses
  • Spaghetti-cooked and coloured with food colouring, food tongs, spoons, chopsticks and containers
  • Sorting containers with pasta, rice, lentils and beans
  • Shredded paper with hidden objects lurking within
  • Dry rice and pasta and a toy tea set
  • Ducks, frogs, weed and water
  • Wallpaper paste made up and explored using fingers!
  • Sand with jewels and sieves (treasure hunt)
  • Soapflakes and glitter for a snow scene
  • Porridge oats and containers and scoops
  • Shaving foam and food colouring
  • Plastic mirrors and building bricks
  • Custard just for the fun and mess of it!
  • Ice cubes made with water and blue/silver glitter
  • Water beads...They feel amazing but only use with children who can be trusted not to put them in their mouth!
